The technique of stereoscopy was developed in the mid-19th century in Europe and the United States. However, it wasn’t until the early 20th century that it became popular in Catalonia and the rest of the country.

Recently, we acquired a selection of these early 3D photographs, taken between 1929 and 1950, which capture scenes from the Montseny region and the daily lives of its inhabitants.

In 2024, our collective, Zinematik, used this same technique to photograph artists and artisans from the Baix Montseny region. The resulting portraits were exhibited at the Escoles Velles in Sant Esteve de Palautordera.

The combination of stereoscopic photographs from these two periods, separated by nearly a century, inspired us to create this new visual exhibition: A stereoscopic tour through Montseny.

We highlight the importance of this technique and its results, which allow us to pause time and offer a visual, tangible, and lasting experience, very different from the more immediate visual experiences of today.

This is a travelling and adaptable exhibition that can be installed in any indoor space.
